Current Work: I'm an Applied Scientist in Alexa's Frontier AI Modelling Lab, working on the large language models behind Alexa+, with a continuing focus on accessible and human-centred AI.
Education: I hold a PhD in Artificial Intelligence (thesis: Incremental Multi-party Conversational AI for People with Dementia), an MSc in Artificial Intelligence with Speech and Multimodal Interaction (Distinction), and a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics.
Experience: Currently at Amazon in Alexa's Frontier AI Modelling Lab. Previously a Research Associate at Heriot-Watt University on the EU's SPRING project (conversational AI and robotics in a hospital memory clinic), an earlier role as an Applied Scientist at Amazon Alexa, and machine learning / data science work at Wallscope, the NHS, the Scottish Government, and private clients across sectors including finance.
Speaking & Community: 50+ invited talks internationally (Harvard, USC, Carnegie Mellon, KTH, BBC, NatWest, and more), and co-founder of the European & African Conversational AI Summits.
